Spectral Envelope Analysis of Snoring Signals in Simple Snorers and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (osa) Patients

چکیده

In recent years, several studies have shown the relationship between snoring and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Instead of time domain analysis of snoring signal, the spectral features and shapes of snores have been found different in simple snorers and OSAS patients. In this study, we propose a method to differentiate simple snorers and OSAS patients based on spectral envelope estimation of snoring signals. The formant frequencies and corresponding bandwidths are computed for both group and the variation and consistency of the formant distributions are determined. A total of 1400 snoring episodes from 7 simple snorer and 7 OSAS patients were analyzed. Significant differences are found in the variation of formant frequencies of both groups. The results are commended from the view of pathophysiological aspect.

Sleep Architecture in Patients With Primary Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate sleep architecture in patients with primary snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Methods: In this study, we analyzed polysomnographic data of 391 clients who referred to Sleep Disorders Research Center (SDRS). These people were classified into three groups based on their Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) and snoring; control, Primary Snoring (PS), and Obs...

Acoustic analysis of snoring sound in patients with simple snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea.

Snoring, a symptom which may indicate the presence of the obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSA), is also common in the general population. Recent studies have suggested that the acoustic characteristics of snoring sound may differ between simple snorers and OSA patients. We have studied a small number of patients with simple snoring and OSA, analysing the acoustic characteristics of the snori...

Screening of Patients with Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea using Heart Rate Variability Indices.

OBJECTIVE Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are common disorders. Snoring associated with excessive daytime sleepiness is the most prevalent symptoms of OSA. Heart rate variability (HRV) is altered in patients with OSA and the degree of alteration may be linked to the severity of OSA. Alterations in HRV in 24 hour tachograms have recently been used in screening OSA patients. Autonomic c...

Signs of Upper Airway Collapsibility in Snoring Sounds

We have shown that snoring fundamental frequency (F0) contours have an oscillating pattern in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) as compared to the relatively smoother pattern in simple snorers. This points to the underlying upper airway instability and collapsibility in OSA. The 2 patterns were classified by 75% accuracy.

Pitch-jitter Analysis of Snoring Sounds for the Diagnosis of Sleep Apnea

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a disease in which airways involuntarily collapse during sleep, leading to serious consequences. About 10% of snorers suffer from OSA, unknown to them, nevertheless requiring medical attention. The current standard of diagnosis for OSA, polysomnography (PSG), requires that the patients spend one full day in a hospital, wired to a multitude of instruments. PSG is...
